It's been so long since we have posted here! A few thing to mention: We are heading down to Art Basel this week to work some amazing events for our client Perrier! So excited about this fizzy drink and all it's festivities!

Also Tuesday, Dec 6th we are proud to be working the Women In Music Holiday Party. Our team never misses this party so we are proud to be a part of it this year.

Happy Summer Everyone!

Welcome to the middle of August. Although The Press House has been busy enough, we have enjoyed a summer without too many huge events...That's about to change!

SPIN is rocking something cool at the end of the month...stay tuned! Morrison Hotel Gallery is about to pick up and have an insanely busy few months. Some amazing exhibits and their 10 year anniversary! Ken Regan is having a handful of fabulous book parties, the Ten out of Tenn tour is kicking off and the album is actually out this Tuesday! Whew! And that's just to name a few!

Rest up for the next week or two, because it's about to get busy!!

hello out there!

it's been a while since we've posted! sorry about that....

a few things; this thursday is 28 north's last night of their amazing residency at arlene's grocery. come one come all. last week was soooooo good, and if you come out, rick may buy you a drink!

also this friday night two amazing shows happening. first our great friend tommy brunett is playing at rockwood music hall at 7 pm sharp! after that the press housers and crew are heading down to 92YTribeca to celebrate the cd release of the amazing stephanie rooker! doors at 8, show at 9. come hang for the night with us...we promise it to be funner than anything else you have going on.

also, some killer shows the first week of december. stay tuned!

Hello out there: A bunch of stuff to report!

First off: Happy Birthday to us! The Press House turned 8 years old last Friday. I can not believe how the time goes!!

We are celebrating our Birthday party at The Rebel Spirit Music show at The Rockwood Music Hall on Wednesday, May 6. The Fabulous Dave Doobinin will play, along with several other. Come out and have a drink with us.

We have some wonderful shows coming up that we would love to point your attention towards! The fabulous Neil Nathan playing the Bowery Ballroom this Saturday night, April 25, in celebration of his video "Do Ya". This is going to be an amazing show!

Ghost VS Sanne is heading to New York from Sweden to wow us with their awesomeness. They will be at the Living Room on May 7 at 7:30 PM.

We also have Laura Tsaggarus celebrating the release of her CD "Keep Talking" at Rock & Roll Hotel in DC, on May 9. We are celebrating with a press reception with yummy food, etc. If you'd like to be our guest please email one of us here.

Matt Shwachman is playing a showcase at Rockwood Music Hall at 6 PM on Saturday, May 9. This is a great chance to see him play and get a sense for what the industry is so excited about!

On May 20, the beautiful and talented Atoosa Grey is celebrating her record release of "When The Cardinals Come" at Joe's Pub in New York City. This record blows me away and it would be great if you all came to see her live.

On another note, please tune in here for an official announcement of some exciting SPIN Magazine news we will be release tomorrow. Exciting times...

I am overwhelmed with excitement for our amazing client Kimberly Rivers Roberts! The film about her life story, Trouble The Water, received an Oscar nomination for best documentary feature. I can't even begin to tell you how incredible and deserving the film is of this honor. If you haven't seen this film, please do. For Kim, to go from her struggles in the 9th ward to the Academy Awards is truly inspiring.

Over here at The Press House we are anxiously waiting for Thursday, January 22, when the Academy Award nominees are announced. Kimberly Rivers Roberts aka BlackKoldMadina, the star of the amazing documentary Trouble The Water, has a qualifying song up for consideration in the original song category, and she may just get an Oscar nod. The film has been shortlisted for the awards. If anyone deserves this shot, it's Kim. Say a little prayer and tune in towards the end of the week!

A few good things...

If you haven't heard of Neil Nathan yet, you will. His cover of ELO's song "Do Ya" was just featured on the hit show Californication, and he was smart enough to make a video to go along with it. The video world premiere's this Friday on his site, and on youtube. So make sure you check it out.

Come see Dave Doobinin play at the Rockwood this Friday night, November 14, at 10 PM. Should be a great show. He is off to Nashville at the start of December to sit down with some amazing folks to write, so come see him play and wish him well.

Also, I have to say how excited we are to be working with this amazing company called Myxer.com. This site is every band's dream for self promotions when it comes to ringtones. Check it out, you won't be sorry.

Can you believe that CMJ is only a few days away? Time flies...The Press House is proud of our artists participating in CMJ this year and we would love for you to come out and see them play!

On Thursday, October 23, we invite you to see the Brooklyn native Dave Doobinin perform his spectacular set of introspective songs at The Rockwood Music Hall. Dave was just part of the Joe's Pub 10th Anniversary Gala event, a tribute to Judy Collins. He received rave reviews from press, the audience, as well as Judy herself. You can listen to songs from his new record "The Birth Of Wonder" at www.myspace.com/davedoobinin.

Suzanna Choffel, from Austin, Texas will be bringing her eclectic bluesy pop to the Living Room on Friday, October 24. Please give her rich music a listen at www.myspace.com/suzannachoffel. Suzanna just won the Famecast Pop competition for September, and will be entered into the Famecast Fenom $20,000 final round in November. Plus, she is just downright awesome.

Does it feel the summer is over to anyone else?

Labor Day came and went and now here we are in September gearing up for a busy fall. This month there are some great shows happening, including Avenue B at the Bitter End on September 9th and Dave Doobinin's cd release at Joe's Pub on September 26th.

Also, I am heading down to Nashville September 9-14, for Next Big Nashville. In you're in that neck of the woods, drop me an email and let's make sure to meet up.

Avenue B/Pinataland/Ken Webb

I am so happy to report that my amazing clients are playing some wonderful shows this week..and we will be at all of them buying drinks and spreading cheer..of course.

First, on Wednesday, August 13, the fabulous Ken Webb will be hitting the stage at the Living Room at 7 PM sharp. He is such a cool songwriter and this should be a great show.

Second we have Pinataland celebrating the release of their new record "Songs For The Forgotten Future Volume 2" on Saturday August 16 at The Old Stone House in Brooklyn, and Sunday, August 17 at The Rockwood Music Hall. This band is so fun live, great energy and witty banter.

And of COURSE last but not least, the beautiful and talented Avenue B will be playing at The Blender Theater on Saturday, August 16, opening for Brianna Taylor of Mtvs Real World. This band has serious buzz right now, and this show will be no exception to that.

We look forward to seeing you all out and about in this fine city of ours.

I am excited to report that on Tuesday, August 5th the talented Mr. Dave Doobinin is playing at McCarren Pool (Brooklyn) at 7 PM, opening for the film 28 Days Later as part of the L Magazine's Summer Screen Series. This is going to be an extremely fun show, one not to be missed. His new record The Birth Of Wonder comes out early October and he will be heading out on a national tour to support the release.

It would be wonderful to see you all Tuesday at the pool!

Avenue B

We are so excited to announce that we are working with the amazing Avenue B.

I had the pleasure of having dinner with these three incredible women, and there incredible mother last Thursday night. I have to say, if I ever have daughters, I am raising them the way Susan has raised these girls. Gabby, Dominique, and Olivia are ages 17 through 23, and although young, they are unbelievably smart, grounded, beautiful and sincere. They seem to really know themselves, which I thought impossible at that age.

After dinner they played a few songs for me in their living room, and I have to say, not only do they have really great songs, but they are all each separately true musicians and artists. You get the sense that even though this is about playing together, its more importantly about just playing music. Come see them live on Monday night, July 14, at The Bitter End at 9:30 PM.

You won't be sorry, they are truly special girls.

B&B Now Open!

I am so excited to announce that B&B is now open! Come and eat!

Time Out New York says "The name conjures up a country inn, but it's the speakeasy vibe that pervades this Williamsburg eatery. Chef-owner Coby Farrow (The Tasting Room, Spotted Pig) offers gastropub-inspired plates like mac and cheese tossed with cripsy boar's ear." At 109 South 6th Street, between Bedford Ave and Berry Street in Willimasburg.

The Press House was in full attendance last night for the opening, and we have to say...we are still full. Yummy.

I don't know about you but if you live in New York, you have to hit Coney Island at least once during the summer....

This Saturday, June 14th, Dave Doobinin will be celebrating Coney Island and songs from his new record with a very cool show at The Chapel in Sea Gate, (Coney Island) Brooklyn. Special guests include the amazing Tara Angell, The Voyces and many others.

There will be transportation to and from the subway and free beer and wine with any ticket purchase.

Well hello again out there. A few things I should mention:

First off a big congratulations to Mike Krum, who as we speak is in route back to NYC after a smashing performance at the star studded Playboy Mansion benefit for New Orleans. Yes, the real Playboy Mansion, and no, I didn't go, and yes...I am kicking myself.

In true Krum Fashion, they are having a private show, party, etc....with a plethora of PRB on hand: Tuesday, June 3rd at 8 PM, at the Montana Studios, 823 11 Avenue (corner of w. 56 street). www.montanastudios.com. This is going to be SUCH a fun an amazing night. Please make sure to RSVP to me, because as always, space is limited.

I am very excited about my new client David Doobinin. He is releasing a new record in September, which you will be hearing a lot about. Even sooner, he is playing a bad ass show at this incredible little chapel in Coney Island on June 14. The Seagate chapel, built in 1901, is the perfect spot for this beautiful and amazing show. The night will also feature performances by The Voyces and the amazing Tara Angell. Let me know if you want more info on getting some tickets.

The Man To Know.

Just a little note to tell you about Gary Adelman. He is a very cool, very smart entertainment lawyer I met a few years back at sxsw, who works for a big firm in mid-town.

I started working with him this year, and I have to say....he is downright brilliant. He gave me some of the best business advice I've gotten since the conception of The Press House, seven years ago this month. So why am I singing his praises today? I have a lot of clients, friends, etc., in the industry looking to find a great lawyer....and I have one, so I thought I would share. Amazing Show Last Night...

The Living Room is celebrating their 10th Anniversary this month with some amazing nights of music. Gotta hand it to Jennifer over there for booking something like 17 nights of incredible artists. I've had some awesome friends and clients that have been able to play some of the nights: Sam Bisbee, FDR, Mieka Pauley to name a few. And, it's always a bit of a fun scene, each night, running into industry folk and friends.

Last night I was there for Rose Polenzani at 7:30 and Joseph Arthur at 11:30. My friend Gabriel Unger first turned me on to Rose and her amazing voice about 6 years ago, and I have remained a fan ever since. She was incredible last night as always. She played guitar on some songs and piano on others... I can't say enough good things about her.

Joseph Arthur totally blew me away. He is such an incredible songwriter and performer. If you haven't checked out his music you are missing something very special. His show was great. He did some solo stuff and then rocked it out a bit with a band. Mike Mills from R.E.M was around and even jumped on stage to sing the final song with him....

There are only three more nights left of the Living Room 10th Anniversary celebration.

My favorite A&R guy Mitchell Cohen, from Verve, has been telling me about The Silver Seas who are playing tonight..... You should get down there if you can! www.thelivingroomny.com.

How is your Myspace, Facebook, etc?

Happy Monday Everyone,

PR had become so much more than getting placements in print publications...But we all know that by now.

One of the most important areas of promotion for artists as of late, is your social networking sites. This may sound like old news to some of you, but I can't tell you how many times someone asks me if those sites "really make a difference". The answer is: Yes, they do.

Myspace, Facebook, iLike, etc. How does your page look? How many people are visiting your site in a day? These tools are so important for outreach, creating a fan base, gig promotion and a billion other things.

I think it's kind of cool actually; You have the ability to use these sites for some serious self promotion. Don't under estimate the power of your pages. A good friend of mine who works in marketing for one of the few major labels left, told me recently that this was still a huge avenue for discovering new bands. A&R, music supervisors, labels, etc. They are all curious about the band with 20,000 friends......

So my advice? Put in the man power and get to "friend-ing"

A Bit About PR...

A lot of people ask me how one would go about getting press. I always say this: Have something to promote. It is so important to have a "story" or something going on, other than a fancy new release. Is there a tour, a launch party, a single of the week, a new video?

But even beyond a story, it's important to always ask yourself this: "Would I write about this, if I was a music editor or writer?" Beyond the creative aspect, is there something that makes your project stand out?

Just a quick thought for the day.

A week ago today.

I am sitting here at my desk, finally feeling like I am getting caught up after a whirlwind experience in Austin. I just looked up at the calendar and I can't believe it was a week ago today that I boarded JetBlue at 8 AM. Talk about time passing quickly when you're not looking.

This year's SXSW was intense to say the least. It is one of the best weeks of the year. It's like the music industry goes on spring break. CEO's wearing shorts and flip flops, drinking margaritas at noon.... But it is also getting a bit out of hand. It used to be much easier to get into shows, etc. Now it all seems a bit like a circus. Still, I wouldn't miss it for the world and I had fun this year.

It's also the one time a year I get to see some of my favorite faces in person. I was speaking with someone about this at the Spin Magazine party at Stubbs this past Friday. We named it "the SXSW friendships". Those interesting relationships that you don't feed a lot during the year, but once down on Texas soil, they feel like your very best friends, and it wouldn't be SXSW without them.

My clients did awesome too. Mieka Pauley and Moss Bluff played some incredible shows. I wished we could have gotten the entire festival to come see their shows, but there is SO much going on, at all times, and everyone is trying to get the entire festival to their own shows...The good news is they rocked it, and made some new fans.

Other highlights of the festival for me: Seeing Elliott Brood from Toronto, The Submarines from Los Angeles, R.E.M., Motorhead (yes, I said motorhead, and they were frickin' cool), and the amazing Joseph Arthur. He always totally blows me away live.

I should post some photos soon, but back to work for now!
